Privacy Policy

We built Ordibehesht to be useful, not to collect data about you. This policy describes exactly what the app and this website measure, and why.

Overview

Ordibehesht is a personal app that displays the Persian (Solar Hijri) calendar, moon phases, and astronomical events. There is no account, no login, and no registration. We never ask for your name, an email address, a birthday, or a contact list, and the app has no user-generated content, no chat, no social features, and no advertising.

We do collect a small amount of anonymous information about how the app is used and whether it is crashing. That information is not tied to an identity and cannot be traced back to you. The rest of this page explains it in full.

What Stays On Your Device

Your settings, and the events and astronomical data the app has downloaded, are stored only on your device. Nothing else about how you use the calendar leaves it, apart from the anonymous events described below.

Location

The app does not request or access your device location.

Anonymous Usage Analytics

The app sends anonymous usage events to PostHog, an analytics tool, so we can tell which parts of the app are used. The events are things like: the app was opened, a tab was switched, an event was tapped or opened, a day on the calendar was tapped, the moon detail was opened, and a setting was changed.

These events carry a tab, event, or setting identifier and nothing else. They are not linked to a name, an email address, or an account, because none of those exist in the app. Each installation is given a random identifier so that repeat use can be counted without knowing who you are. That identifier is generated on your device, is shared only with Ordibehesht’s own home screen widget, and is tied to neither your Apple Account nor any advertising identifier. We do not track you across other apps or websites.

The home screen widget sends at most one event per day, recording that a widget is in use and which size it is.

PostHog also tells the app which features are switched on. That request carries the same anonymous identifier and nothing else.

Crash Reporting

The app sends crash and error reports to Sentry so we can fix what breaks. A report contains the device model, the operating system version, the app version, and an anonymised stack trace. Reports do not carry your IP address or other identifying request data.

A crash report may also include a screenshot and view hierarchy of the app screen at the moment of the crash. Because Ordibehesht has no text input anywhere in the app, such a screenshot can only ever show calendar and event content, never anything you typed.

Network Requests

The app fetches the event catalog, its images, and pre-computed astronomical data (equinoxes and moon phases) from our server, and asks it for the minimum supported app version so it can tell you when an update is required. These requests contain no personally identifiable information.

Ordibehesht also uses Apple’s App Attest to prove to our server that a request comes from a genuine copy of the app rather than from a script, because that astronomical data costs us money to serve. Once per installation, your device creates a key inside its Secure Enclave, and we store the public half of that key together with its identifier so later requests can be checked against it. This identifies the installation and not you: the key is created by Apple’s system on the device, carries no personal information, and is gone when the app is deleted. The version check deliberately skips this step, so an app that a required update has blocked can still discover that it is blocked.

This Website

The support, privacy, and terms pages on amirlabs.app are sometimes opened from inside the app. Those pages measure page views, roughly how long a page was open, the approximate country the visit came from (derived from the IP address, which we do not store as part of the event), the type of device, and which in-page links were used.

To keep those counts honest across visits, an anonymous random identifier is stored in your browser’s local storage. It contains no personal information, sets no cookies, and is not shared with anyone. These pages deliberately run a reduced form of analytics: there is no session recording, no automatic capture of clicks or typing, and no replay of anything entered into the support form.

If your browser sends a “Do Not Track” signal, the website collects nothing at all.

The Support Form

If you choose to write to us through the support form, we receive the email address and the message you type, delivered through Resend, our email provider. We use them only to reply to you.

The contents of your message and your email address are never sent to our analytics. We record only that a message was submitted, which app it was about, whether it was sent from inside the app or from the web, and a coarse size band for the message (for example “50-200 characters”).

Children

Ordibehesht does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The anonymous analytics and crash reports described above contain no personal information, no contact details, and no identifiers that would let anyone be recognised. There is no advertising, no in-app purchasing, no user-generated content, and no social feature.

Data Sharing And Retention

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone for advertising. The only third parties that receive anything are the service providers named above, acting on our behalf: PostHog (anonymous analytics), Sentry (crash reports), and Resend (support email delivery). Their own policies are at posthog.com/privacy, sentry.io/privacy, and resend.com/legal/privacy-policy.

Anonymous analytics and crash data are retained by those providers under their standard retention periods. Support emails are kept for as long as needed to answer you.

Your Choices

Because we hold nothing that identifies you, there is normally nothing to request or delete. You can stop all app analytics and crash reporting by deleting the app, stop website analytics by enabling “Do Not Track” in your browser, and simply not use the support form if you would rather not send us your email address. If you have written to us and want that email deleted, ask and we will delete it.
